Italy Held To A Draw By England In World Cup Qualifier

Italy Held to a Draw by England in World Cup Qualifier

Scrappy First Half Ends in 1-1 Tie

Scamacca Gives Italy Early Lead, Bellingham Levels

Italy and England played out a 1-1 draw in their World Cup 2022 qualifying match at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Gianluca Scamacca gave Italy the lead in the 10th minute, but Jude Bellingham equalized for England in the 35th minute.

England had the better of the chances in the first half, but Italy's defense held firm. The visitors took the lead when Scamacca headed home a cross from Lorenzo Insigne. England responded well to going behind and Bellingham leveled the scores with a fine finish from outside the box.

The second half was a more even affair, with both teams having chances to win the game. However, neither side could find a breakthrough and the match ended in a draw.

Italy's Draw Extends Unbeaten Run

Italy's draw against England extends their unbeaten run to 39 matches. The Azzurri have not lost a game since September 2018 when they were beaten by Portugal in the UEFA Nations League.

Italy's unbeaten run has seen them win the 2020 European Championship and qualify for the 2022 World Cup. They will be hoping to continue their good form when they face Germany in their next World Cup qualifier on March 29.
