Rwanda's Paralympic women's sitting volleyball team is in mourning after one of its members, 25-year-old Fatuma Uwimana, was declared missing in Paris on Wednesday.

Uwimana, who has a physical disability, was last seen leaving the team's hotel in the 19th arrondissement on Tuesday night.

According to team officials, Uwimana left the hotel alone and did not inform anyone where she was going.

The team reported Uwimana missing to the French police on Wednesday morning.

Police have launched an investigation and are questioning a suspect who was seen with Uwimana on Tuesday night.

The suspect has since been released without charge.

Uwimana's disappearance has shocked and saddened her teammates.

She is described as a "kind and gentle" person who was always willing to help others.

The team is now focused on supporting Uwimana's family and cooperating with the police investigation.
